Tiny Bites: Stormies, Elements Civic Square, Kowloon

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Family FriendlyFamily Friendly

Catching up with friends on a sunny day and looking for somewhere for lunch with outside space, that’s not too pricey, easy to get to and child-friendly? Tough ask, mama! But we always aim to please, so how about crossing over to Kowloon and checking out my local, Stormies?

Thumbs up:
Located above Elements shopping centre in Civic Square, Stormies is a great place for a bite to eat if the Weather Gods are being kind, and there’s space galore to let the kids run off that pent-up energy. (Apologies in advance if you see my hyped-up blondie trying to lead your little ones astray!)

Bar

The bar-style setting has both indoor and outdoor tables, but alfresco, and right at the front is the way to go, so you can keep an eye on the little critters!

The menu is cheap and cheerful (in a good way!), including my fave Black Forest Burger, a decent Club Sandwich, Fish n’ Chips, Blue Crab Spaghetti, BBQ Pork Ribs and Rib Eye steak. This is pub grub, but nicely done, with plenty to satisfy most tastebuds. There’s no children’s menu, but you can order from the bar snacks menu that includes nibbles like Nachos, Chicken Strips and Potato Skins… followed, of course, by a scoop or two of ice-cream for dessert!

There’s also an extensive drinks menu with a pretty impressive cocktail list, if you’re in the mood to quench your thirst in style… did someone say ‘boozy playdate’?

Playing

Stormies is just one quick stop on the MTR from Hong Kong Station (at IFC) to Kowloon Station, and even better mamas, there’s great shopping to be done at Elements mall afterwards! We’re talking Zara, H&M, Juicy Couture and plenty more. With a movie theatre and ice-skating rink in the mall too, this is a great place to come and make a day of it with the whole family.

Thumbs down:
The toilets next door in Cafe Iguana are by no means spacious. My tip is to take the kids down the escalators under the big screen into Elements mall, where there are large, modern and super-clean bathrooms located just at the bottom of the escalator.

Highchairs: None. This is better suited to slightly older kids who can perch on a grown-up seat.

Stroller access: Yes, this is easily accessible from Elements Mall.

How much: Starters from $58 – $198; mains from $88 – $268.
