Pinch and a punch, first of the month… well, one day late but we couldn’t resist! Here’s what’s hot and happening for the first week of March!

The friendliest day of the year!
Everyone’s favourite Irish tipple Guinness want this year’s St Patrick’s Day to go down in history as ‘The Friendliest Day of The Year’ – so they’re hosting a super-fun Friendliest Rivals Dodgeball Tournamentto help them get into the world record books. Famous HK arch rivals, including sports teams, media and big businesses, will be facing off against each other in fancy dress to settle the scores once and for all! All spectators will also get a free pint of Guinness whilst stocks last. When: 10 March, 3.30-7pm
Where: Main Pitch, Hong Kong Football Club, 3 Sports Road, Happy Valley, Hong Kong
How much: Free! Don’t forget to pledge your support here

Mexican takeover
We all know and love HK’s hippest Japanese joint Yardbird – and now they’re teaming up with hot San Francisco restaurant HECHO for a Mexican takeover! Get ready to stuff your faces with tacos, ceviche, Tequila and Cerveza for one night only; there’s no reservations and they’ll be dishing it up until it runs out, so get there early girls!

When: 6 March, 6pm
Where: Shake ‘Em Buns, 76 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong

It must have been love
Believe it or not, legendary Scandinavian pop duo Roxette were once bigger than ABBA Stateside – so now’s your chance to catch them in action in HK. Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle will be playing songs from their new album Charm School, plus all your old favourites like Joyride, Listen To Your Heart and… of course… It Must Have Been Love. We’re replaying that scene in our heads from Pretty Woman as we speak!

Where: Hall 5BC, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
How much: $480-880,, 3128 8288

Guilt-free shopping sprees
We love nothing more than a good weekend shop – but instead of tripping off to SOHO and the usual malls, how about hitting up some great local fairs instead. Handmade Hong Kong’s Backyard Bazaar is back and filled with spectacular arts, craft and local indie designers; this month, it’s taken over both plazas in Discovery Bay and should be the biggest ever! Meanwhile, Jupyeah is holding a fab eco-friendly pop-up swap shop to pass on your pre-loved stuff to other deserving homes so have a drink, enjoy some music, clear out your closet and grab a few new goodies too!

When: 4 March; Backyard Bazaar 10am-4pm, Jupyeah 1-7pm
Where: DB Plaza & North Plaza, Discovery Bay; Strategic Sounds Workshop E, 10/F, Hing Win Industrial Building,47 Hoi Yuen Road, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong

Break ups and make ups
In the mood for love? Well, even if you’re not, you might be after Take Love, an unusual night of theatre at the Fringe Club. Featuring short interlinked stories, get ready for four very different takes on love and passion! Not suitable for under 16s.
