With Christmas just a month away, we’re anticipating November to be a busy one for all you mamas out there. And in the throes of holiday planning, we’re pretty sure the last thing you need to worry about is how to keep the kids occupied this month. That’s why we’re helping you get ahead of the game with this list of free November events, covering everything from book launches to music and light festivals and, of course, a Christmas fair (or two).

Free November Events: "Emi Takes Hong Kong" Book Launch

“Emi Takes Hong Kong” Book Launch

New to Hong Kong with young children? Or just want the little ones to know our city better? “Emi Takes Hong Kong”, a brand new picture book by local author Jane Karen Ho, is a fantastic way for the kids to discover the beauty and joy of the concrete jungle we call home. Join Jane as she celebrates the official release of the book this month with a family-friendly launch complete with author reading, illustrator drawing demo, kids’ story-making activity and free goodies!

When: Saturday, 9 November, 3pm to 4:30pm

Free November Events: The Big Picnic

The Big Picnic

The Big Picnic, aka Discovery Bay’s most anticipated happening of the year, is back with a bang! And as always, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. This year there will be four stages jam-packed with a line up of live entertainment featuring the city’s best musical acts. There’ll also be a kids zone to keep the little ones occupied, as well as plenty of food and drink options and a craft market courtesy of Handmade Hong Kong. While the event is free to attend, we strongly encourage you to buy a blue wristband for lots of food, wine and shopping discounts. Your donation will go towards supporting the event so it can keep on going for years to come!

When: Saturday, 9 November, 10am to 10pm
Where: Discovery Bay Main Plaza and Tai Pak Beach, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong

City Kids Christmas Fair

It’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit. And City Kids will help you to do just that with its family-friendly Christmas fair. In addition to fantastic stalls from the likes of Retykle, Book Wise HK and Wander Cubs, you can expect face painting, crafts and food, as well as an appearance from Santa!

When: Saturday, 16 November, 10am to 4pm
Where: City Kids Hong Kong, 2/F, East Wing, 12 Borrett Road, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong

Sincerely Yours At Pacific Place

Saving the best of its 30th anniversary festivities for the last, Pacific Place proudly presents the Christmas extravaganza “Sincerely Yours”, and you and the kids are invited to join in the fun! This year, Pacific Place will transform into Santa’s very own printing house, complete with gigantic pop-up Christmas cards featuring cute characters designed by illustrators Jennifer Porter and Bonnie Pang. Perfect for a family photo op! And though not strictly free, who can resist a visit to Santa’s Grotto? Make sure to book in and purchase tickets online before you go.

Good Gift Christmas Family Fun Fair

Looking for a Christmas fair with a difference? Then head on over to Tuen Mun’s Gold Coast for the Good Gift Christmas Family Fun Fair by Crossroads Foundation, held in collaboration with Fair Trade Hong Kong. Mamas will love browsing the stalls of fair trade and social enterprise goodies (perfect for the stockings!), whilst kids will delight in the array of outdoor activities on offer (including tree climbing, zip lining and bike riding). We challenge you to think of a better family day out!
