Technology-enabled learning in these unique times!
Since launching last year, Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong has established itself as an academy that delivers a well-rounded education, focused on the whole child. The school offers 14 Primary Subjects for its young learners (years 1 to 6), along with a wide range of carefully selected extracurricular activities. Even through a year of challenging disruptions, what’s been particularly impressive is that with its dedicated online Microsoft iLearning platform, the school has been able to resume classes as per normal for all 14 primary subjects that it currently offers, including English, Chinese, Maths, Science, iSTEAM and the Arts! No mean feat, and one that has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by all stakeholders involved.
The integration of Microsoft Teams has meant that students enjoy access to education resources online via this platform. Wycombe Abbey has been recognised as an Official Microsoft Incubator School and has emerged as a pioneer for online learning during this extraordinary period. In addition to this, its “door-to-door” service leverages the school bus services to deliver necessary teaching materials to our students’ homes every week.
So how exactly did this work? Let’s hear from students, parents and teachers themselves:
The brand-new school, which opened in September 2019, offers modern facilities and themed specialist classrooms with a view to nurturing confident, well-balanced and happy young people. The curriculum is drawn from the British National Curriculum in all subjects except Chinese. The staff and learning environment promise diversity, collaboration and support to students from varied backgrounds, working to instil ambition and resilience in them. The school aims to help its pupils get ready to embrace the challenges of secondary and higher education, no matter where they go in the world. The ability to adapt and excel even in these challenging times will stand both the school and its students in good stead in the years ahead.
