What's OnPost Category - What's OnWhat's On

A wondrous music, arts and food festival the whole family can enjoy!

Music and arts festivals always promise an exciting, entertaining experience. And when you were single and childless, it was fairly easy to have a rip-roaring time. But since the juniors entered the scene, things have changed on that front. Most of the time, you forgo that scene and instead opt for quality family time at a “typical” family-friendly, kid-favouring resort because a festival was never a good option for parents with kids in tow—until Wonderfruit.

Wonderfruit is a magical eco conscious music, arts/activities and food festival held on Thursday, 17 December – Sunday, 20 December in the Fields at Siam Country, just outside of Bangkok that offers an unforgettable, enriching experience for the whole family. It is thrilling, educational and safe for kids of all ages, from toddlers to tweens, while all the while being mind-blowingly captivating for adults. Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is exceedingly entertained and delighted all on the same, enclosed festival grounds.

Kids will feed their minds, bodies and souls with unique opportunities to participate in cool workshops, activities and all the offerings of Camp Wonder, the festival’s dedicated kids’ area. There will be free running workshops led by free running legends, Team Farang, traditional kite making workshops, storytelling, and much more. And they will enjoy these activities alongside a diverse group of other young guests who have come to enjoy Wonderfruit from all over the world. Wonderfruit offers endless activities for the kids to learn about food, the environment and the world, and how they can live socially consciously and responsibly.

Both parents and kids can spend hours at Wonderfruit’s fully functioning onsite farm where they can get learn how their food is grown while getting their hands dirty, and then later watch the farmer and chef forage and cook on site. It’s a magical playland for children where they can feed their creativity, express themselves, and let their imagination fly, all while absorbing Wonderfruit’s ethos of sustainability.

And parents can either join their kids in these activities or venture off and explore the fields themselves, as there is a professional nanny service on hand at the event.

Families have the option of “glamping” in spacious, air-conditioned tents large enough for a family of four, with access to private, quality food and beverage outlets. You can wander back and forth between the festival and the solace of your nearby villas or nearby four and five star hotels. Wonderfruit also shuttles guests to and from its nearby partner hotels.

This year, among the talented performer lineup is legendary hip hop artist Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), R&B duo Rhye and the breathtaking, twirling, fire-breathing cirque performers of Lucent Dossier Experience. The goal behind the festival is to not just provide first-rate entertainment, but to bring people of all backgrounds together in the name of art and music to inspire a sense of social responsibility. Wonderfruit is cool, it’s conscious, and it’s something the whole family will love.

And if the nature, music and posh tents weren’t enough to get you totally hyped, Wonderfruit’s food and beverage showcase features a stellar lineup sure to bring all the foodies to the yard. At Theatre of Feasts, guests can enjoy spectacular food prepared by award-winning Chef Gaggan, and then enjoy a signature Wonderfruit cocktail created by Shingo Gokan, revered mixologist and owner of Speak Low in Shanghai. Faves with the foodies, Hong Bao, Bad Motel, Fillets, Broccoli Revolution, Maison Jean Phillipe, Moo Ping Hea Owen and more than 20 traditional Thai street food outlets will join popular F&B players- Knock, Rocket, Surface and Peppina. And they’ll all be available to rock your tastebuds, fill your bellies and lift your spirits throughout those brilliant four days.

To encourage creative flow and open dialogue, Wonderfruit presents a variety of artists to encourage exercise of thought, physical expression and talent of all kinds. To encourage open, socially conscious dialogue, Wonderfruit has enlisted Scratch Talks who will present a roster of global thought leaders including Dream Rockwell, the founder of Lucent Dossier Experience, Howie B, legendary music producer, and renowned architect, Duangrit Bunnag to help hold a series of perspective-altering interactive discussions. And to encourage that creative flow, The Sharing Neighbourhood, presented by SC ASSET, offers up a variety of talented individuals offering workshops for a variety things ranging from handicrafts to yoga and meditation.

When you want to switch it up and get rough and tumble, you can join in on a game of human foosball, tug of war, aqua volleyball and silly circuit training at Wonder Boot Camp. And don’t think there won’t also be the opportunity to receive a massage, reiki or other indulgent treatments. It’s all there in the Healing Village. Remember, the “glam” in glamping, people!

Clearly, not just your average music and arts festival, Wonderfruit has something special to offer your whole family. It will be three magical days of learning, growing and having a blast together.
