An Egg-cellent Way to Spend Any Weekend!

Those in the know will have been well aware that Ham & Sherry is the place to indulge in amazing Spanish Tapas. Tucked away on Ship Street, it’s easily recognisable with its striking blue and white tiled exterior and the promise of delicious charcuterie hanging in the air (quite literally, as whole legs of jamón float above the bar).

Now, to tempt us even further, they have launched a brand new brunch menu available on both Saturdays and Sundays, combining tapas favourites with free flow Cava or Estrella.

We started our brunch with a Selection of Charcuterie ($228); a lovely combination of cured meats, which we couldn’t help but going HAM on, so it was devoured in no time! This was followed by the Pan con Anchovies ($58) – I had been tempted to go classic avo, but the soft and salty anchovies paired with the crisp bread and tomatoes were totally delicious (and definitely worth a try for the avo-toast devotees out there!).

A favourite dish of mine was the Gambas al Ajillo ($98). The most gorgeous and succulent prawns, cooked with garlic, lemon and chilli; a classic combination which I couldn’t get enough of. We couldn’t go for Tapas and not try the Meatballs, with Bravas Sauce and Manchego ($128). Hearty and flavoursome, the meatballs were covered in a rich tomato sauce and lavished with melted manchego – an easy crowd pleaser especially the kiddos!

To finish the Churros with Chocolate Sauce ($58) were a must. Soft and doughy on the inside, with a crisp exterior. Coated in sugar and cinnamon, they were heavenly when paired with the rich chocolate dipping sauce; the perfect end to a decadent brunch. My only regret? Not having had the room to order the Scotch egg, with Chorizo and Piquillo Pepper ($88) as it looked amazing coming out of the kitchen!

the verdictIt’s tempting to gather big crowds when there’s brunch on the cards, but for Ham & Sherry, I’d recommend keeping it as a more intimate affair. Although the space is casual and perfect for a chilled weekend feast, it’s by no means a big eatery. So, gather four friends or so and order as much as you can, Tapas is made for sharing! Besides, a small group also means less people to argue over who gets the last Churros…
