As The International Montessori School marks 25 years in Hong Kong, it is launching a scholarship programme and inviting Grade 6 families to discover what a different kind of education looks like.

For a quarter of a century, The International Montessori School (IMS) has been treading a path that’s quite different from many schools: it’s been shaping children as capable, curious individuals rather than passive recipients of information. This year, as IMS marks 25 years of Montessori excellence in Hong Kong, the school is celebrating with the launch of its IMS Middle School Scholarship Programme.

What To Know About The IMS Middle School Scholarship Programme

Open to Grade 6 students (both current IMS families and those from the wider community) the scholarship offers 50% to 100% tuition coverage for the two-year Middle School Programme spanning Grades 7 and 8, beginning in the 2026–27 academic year. It’s a meaningful gesture that aligns with the school’s belief that the right education should be accessible to those who are ready for it.

For this scholarship programme, IMS is seeking students who go beyond strong academics — young people who demonstrate genuine agency, intellectual curiosity and a real sense of responsibility towards their communities. In other words, students who are already thinking beyond themselves.

Why IMS Middle School?

The middle school years are often where education systems struggle the most. Adolescents are navigating enormous social and emotional change, yet many schools respond by doubling down on rote learning and exam preparation. IMS takes an entirely different view.

As Hong Kong’s only school offering a full Montessori middle school programme, IMS has built an environment that takes teenagers seriously. The bilingual Montessori education model that integrates a robust Chinese programme with rigorous academics is delivered by AMI-trained educators in small-group formats.
