Instant Goddess makes Hong Kong pavement rage stylish, covets purr-fect kittens at Nine West and spies stylish studs at Steve Madden.

So, what’s been happening this week you may ask… well, we started off the week quaffing white wine and chowing down on delicious mini burgers, (throwing caution and the diet to the wind,) at the Central/Central shopping event, previewing Nine West, Karen Millen, Steve Madden and Betsey Johnson’s Spring/Summer ‘13 collectionsAnd this is what landed on the Instant Goddess radar this week:

Kitten Heel Brigade

Now, you can tell I’m a mummy as one of the things that I got most excited about at Nine West was the amount of kitten, mid-height, block heels and wedges and that are on offer this season… This means more stylish run-about-town options for mamas who want a bit of height and style while they’re at it. Here are my picks, I’ve included prices where possible but they’re normally around the $1000 mark, give or take a few bucks here and there:

$1400 and $1050

Dash of fluro, $1130

PicMonkey Collage3

Nude & raspberry patent closed toes and sandals next door both priced at $1050

Wedge it

A long term fan of wedges, I was pleased to see them nicely represented in this season’s collection from low to high wedges there’s something for everyone and a good selection of colours too.

Multi coloured wedges $1150 and low wedges with buckle detail $1050

Wedges pictured above both priced at $1100 and pink comfy flats approx $950

If like me you have those occasional moments (normally in Central at lunchtime when the masses just won’t move in the same direction as me) when only a back flick of the heel will do… then these are for you. Part of the “Runway Limited Edition” collection, you could not only do some serious damage to fellow pedestrians, but also to your wallet at $3200 a pop! The flats next door are also part of the same collection and you pay up for these too, also priced at $3200… and you don’t even get a heel for your money??

And finally – before I completely overload my lovely picture editor – Perspex block heels ($1050), another take on the Perspex trend this season in lovely zesty citrus colours. Oh and I couldn’t help but include the nude, studded block heels ($2400) next to them because they just look too damned fine (sorry, Pic Ed)!

I also got very excited about seeing a flyer stating that Nine West was available to buy online at www.centralcentralshop.com  – but alas they only ship to Mainland China… come on Central Central, show Hong Kong some online shopping love (and stock more big sizes while you’re at it!).

On the runway

I often forget that Nine West also has a good, affordable clothing line available at Central/Central. If you’re looking for short tailored shorts and cropped pants and don’t mind paying near the $1000 mark then Nine West is a good starting point – with a good selection of colours – but the dresses stood out the most for me in this collection and these are my faves:

Prices are around the $1600 to $1900 mark.

Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson is a recent discovery of mine, but well known in the States, for her quirky style and doing cartwheels at the end of her catwalk shows (she’s 70 so RESPECT to the lady!). But times have been tough on many fashion labels due to the faltering economic climate that we live in, and her brand was recently rescued by Steve Madden, (thank you Mr Madden!) who I learnt was recently released from prison for stock fraud, (naughty naughty Mr Madden!) But back to the fashion, again it was all about the studs, Goddesses!

Navy and red studded bags: $1390 and small square stud bag (far right) $850

Steve Madden

Yep, we just can’t get enough of the studs… I like the first option (below left) as they’re not spiky studs, so more child-friendly (should a flying toddler land on your foot.) And I do like the flats here, but I’m always disappointed to see hard-as-a-board flat sandals, so unfortunately these are not for you if you want a bit of padding for your paddling around town, Goddesses. But they do look nice, don’t they? So, for fashion, not function, maybe?

From left to right: studded block heels $1390, sparkly diamond shape flat sandal, and the ones next door both $990.

Karen Millen

Now I do LOVE a bit of Ostrich leather and this bag stood out on the KM shelves and the wedges aren’t bad either…

Ostrich bag $3900… and sorry I didn’t get the price of the wedges.

As for the runway… these were the two frocks that stood out the most for me:

PicMonkey CollageMinimal print colour block dress $1885 on ASOS and Metallic beaded dress, alas not on ASOS. Available in HK, it will set you back a show stopping $5900, but if you have a friend going back to the UK it’s £350 which is approx $4100, which goes to to show how much KM hikes its prices here… what’s new, I hear you ask?!

Midweek Meal Inspiration

This week I present Cajun Steak with Succotash Saladoh and it’s low fat too! I saw the picture and it made my mouth water, so if that’s not inspiring I don’t know what is? And if you’re wondering what succotash is, it’s a vegetable dish popular in the Southern US.

Yogi tea saying of the week: “The Weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the Strong”.

Instant Goddess saying of the week: “Ok, I forgive you”.
