Where To Send Your Kids For Spanish Lessons In Hong Kong

Learning an additional language can be as easy as un, dos, tres!

Children really do learn at a seriously impressive rate! Experts believe the average toddler understands around 200 to 300 words and picks up as many as 10 new ones a day! So it’s no wonder they say the best time to learn a new language is as a kid. And what better language to choose for your little one than Spanish, which is the third most spoken in the world (after English and Chinese).

You might be surprised to hear that it is actually much easier to learn than some other languages due to its straightforward pronunciation. For little learners, absorbing a new language before the age of 10 can become second nature, so they’ll probably pick it up faster than you! Luckily, we’ve got two recommendations of Spanish classes for kids and teens that’ll have your niños on the path to learning the lingo in no time.

The Spanish Cultural Association
1. The Spanish Cultural Association of Hong Kong

This organisation is one of the biggest Spanish schools in the city, with a team of more than 20 certified teachers. By limiting each group to just three or four children per class, the teachers ensure everyone receives individual attention. The one-hour lessons are held in Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui on weekday afternoons and weekends whole day, making it easy to fit in around school and work schedules. Learning Spanish as a second language will put your child on the right path for International school classes in the future, and you can consider signing them up to the DELE exams that are accredited by the Spanish government.

How much: $1,100 a month
Age: 3-5 for toddlers, 6-9 for kids and 10-15 for teens.
Where: 13A, Eastern Flower Centre, 22-24 Cameron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong; Unit 1305, 13th floor, Cameron Commercial building, 458 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay
When: Weekdays from 4pm to 6pm, classes run all day Saturday and Sunday

2. Spanish Tutors Hong Kong

If you need flexibility, or you think your child would benefit from one-on-one classes, this is a great option. It offers small group classes at its offices in Central, Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui (the Saturday playgroup for 4 to 6-year-olds is a popular option). Or why not ask a tutor to meet somewhere more convenient, like the comfort of your own home! The tuition is top level, with many of its teachers also acting as official examiners for exam boards or working at international schools in the city. If your child is coming up for IGCSE or IB Spanish exams, a private tutor could help them prep, boosting their confidence and hopefully their grade as well.

How much: Private classes start from $500 or $1,100 a month for group lessons
Where: That’s for you to decide! It could be at your home, or at one of the company’s premises in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui or Causeway Bay
When: Flexible

Feeling inspired? With a range of courses for adults as well, the whole family can get involved (then you can justify booking your next vacation to the Spanish sun!). Of course, if Spanish lessons aren’t for you, you can always try your hand at French. Either way, it’s time to get off that sofa and start pushing yourself and the family out of your comfort zones. Buena Suerte!
