Something for you and something for the kids…

Your littles ones might still only be in primary school but it’s important to start thinking about what academic path they should be following for the next stage of their education. There are many options out there which are perhaps different to your home country (if you’re living the expat life) or from when you were taking your exams (way to make us feel old, huh?). One of the most popular options globally is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and if you’re unsure if that program is right for your child, Stamford American will be hosting a seminar on 12 April to explain everything you need to know. Although the IBDP program usually starts in Grade 11, a lot of preparation needs to be done to ensure acceptance and success. The session will cover the IBDP curriculum, admission requirements, helpful advice on how to prepare your kids for the program and what to expect after graduation. By the end of the session you’ll be an IBDP know-it-all and will feel more confident in knowing whether the program is right for your child or not. Check out the all details of the event here.

Because Stamford American believes in balancing work with fun, it is also offering two super cool workshops this April for everyone to enjoy. Got a competitive child on your hands? Or a little MVP who wants to experience some good old-fashioned team spirit? Have them attend one of three basketball clinics, where children will work on classic B-ball skills and also learn some new moves to impress on the court. These are open to everyone – boys and girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join in!

Sport not their thing? What about some creative expression? Because there’s also the musical theatre and art workshop for kids aged 4 to 9. No prior experience is needed, but we guarantee by the end they will be declaring themselves as actors darling! Participating in drama and musical theatre is an excellent confidence booster, as kids learn essential public speaking and presentation skills. As if the all the singing and dancing isn’t enough, there will also be a session on visuals arts where your mini Monet will have the chance to create his or her own masterpiece. Whichever session you choose, you’ll be sure to have some happy and very tired kids on your hands (you’re welcome!).

Best of all, these sessions are for anyone who’s interested in attending – not just Stamford students! And the workshops are at our favourite price point: FREE! Keep up to date with all the events (for parents and kids) on offer via Stamford American’s events page.
