What Makes A Good Preschool? We ask the Head Teacher and Parents at Miles International

While we love the breadth of choices Hong Kong presents when it comes to schooling options for our kids, we admit it can be a bit of a headache sorting through the piles of information to find the school that ticks off all our boxes. How do you choose the right preschool for your child and how do you know if it’s the right fit?

We sought advice from the Head Teacher at Miles ELP International Academy, who tells us that it’s all about “observing how your children learn from an early age and choosing a preschool where the teaching approach is compatible to the child’s learning behaviour.” She adds, “There’s no such thing as the best teaching philosophy – there’s only the most suitable one for your child!”

Presenting an alternative to Montessori schools when it comes to non-traditional teaching, Miles goes above and beyond to focus on each individual child, getting to know their personality, learning style and pace before developing a customised curriculum for them. Their Experiential Learning Programme is a child-centred, inquiry-based approach with hands-on activities and real life experiences where your kids will be able to learn at their own pace and explore their interests and abilities on their own terms!

But don’t take our word for it, mama! Here’s what one set of parents had to say about their daughter’s experience at Miles ELP International Academy:

Our daughter, Elisa (now aged two years and five months) started attending Miles International just a couple of weeks before she turned 2 years old.

All of the staff at “Miles International” are highly experienced and knowledgeable. We were so worried to put our little girl in the hands of strangers, but they made the process so easy and we have full confidence that she is getting all the care she needs.

Our daughter is so happy to go to Miles International and she talks about her teachers and her school friends at home all the time. Every day she learns a new word or song. By now she has mastered all the shapes, numbers, colours and letters.

You can feel that everybody at the school is doing much more than just their job – they’re pursuing a mission of helping our little ones grow in an excellent and warm learning environment.”
