I hope you mamas had a wonderful October. November is a great month to take kids to the theatre. Want to know why? Student discounts! This month is packed with shows that are offering great deals for those still studying… sounds like a steal to us!
For cash-strapped kids
First things first… the best ticket prices by far are available for The Hong Kong People’s Fringe Festival, with 90% of the productions being just $100 for both children and adults! There are shows of various languages and mediums, meaning that you can see avant-garde Japanese theatre one night, a new show about being pregnant in Hong Kong the next, a modern dance interpretation of Antigone, and then a Canadian folk band all in the same fortnight! The HKPFF celebrates the nontraditional venues in town so be prepared to see shows in bookstores, refurbished factories and so on. It’s a very cool festival and definitely has something for everyone!

Jean Genet’s The Maids is coming to HK this month, performed as part of the Pink Season calendar. Starring three well-known local performers it’s a great piece of French drama with a twist. Student tickets are only $150hkd… bonus!

Do you know what sand painting is? It’s a new type of performance art that’s recently been taking over the HK art scene. Sandvolution is playing at the Fringe Club this month and student tickets are very reasonable for those parents who want to expose their kids to the arts without breaking the bank. It’s an entertaining art form that’s fun for the whole family!
