Sleep like a baby
If you’re currently pregnant, we understand how hard it can be to get a good night’s sleep… and sorry to break it to you, but the first few months with bubba won’t be any different (#realtalk!) However, there’s always the silver lining and that for us is choosing fabulous ways to decorate our baby’s room.
Help your baby sleep like a baby with our round up of Sassy Mama’s favourite cribs on the market. We choose from some tried and true classics to beautiful investment pieces that will surely make a statement in your nursery. We’re also big fans of cots that grow with our littles and many of our choices have that option. We know the time our baby’s stay young is short, so hold onto those precious moments during bed time and hold them a little longer before putting them down in their new crib for a good night’s sleep.
If you’re looking for inspiration for nursery design ideas, check out our home style series called Cribz where mamas all over Hong Kong share their kiddo’s bedrooms.
Ah, extra storage… With the limited space in Hong Kong, this playful and sleek convertible crib by Babyletto comes in a cool mint, or a washed natural finish.
As if the sustainable New Zealand Pine Wood and four built-in storage cubbies weren’t enough, this crib also converts to a Daybed and Toddler Bed. Hooray! With an Included Toddler Bed Conversion Kit, four adjustable mattress levels and 1 year warranty, we’re so pleased they ship to our city!
Available online at www.buybuybaby.com for $4,590.33
The Land of Nod is just one of the reasons mamas all over the world are thankful for international delivery!
With a sturdy, solid wood construction and streamlined design, their effortless Carousel Crib is low profile and convenient.
Their main aim is to make it easy and safe to get your little bub in and out (phew!) and the coordinating toddler rail lets it grow with the family! Available in a variety of colours, to complement the rest of your nursery.
Available online at www.landofnod.com for $1,464
bloom offers all the functionality and quality you need in a full-size crib, with an innovative twist.
The solid wood Alama Papa easily folds up into a neat little box, which you can then wheel around the house. It’s genius. The simple assembly and portability make this cot a winning combination.
Oh and when your little on graduates to a “grown up” bed you can simply fold up the crib and wheel it into a closet, rather than unbolting, unscrewing the entire darn thing (only to put it all back together again for the next one).
We also love the look of bloom’s Retro Oak Crib, if you’re looking for something to fit the chic aesthetic of a home.
Available at various stores around Hong Kong.
Alama Papa available for $5,500, Alma Mini available for $2,800, Retro Crib available for $8,700
Uber stylish and practical: our favourite combination. We are completely infatuated with Ubabub’s bar-free Pod Cot. The innovative clear acrylic sides with star-shaped cutouts allow parents a perfect view of the little munchkin, whilst offering an open and airy space for your little bundle of joy to feel included in everyday surroundings. To take it up a notch, check out their Nifty Clear Cot!
Yes, it’s super classy, streamlined and edgy with smooth, rounded edges, but it’s also ultra-safe, eco-friendly. Plus, it converts into the cutest junior pod bed so you can definitely justify it as an investment.
Available online at Urban Baby, or Amazon
When it comes to affordability and functionality, you really can’t go wrong with IKEA. This Swedish brand has been a long term fixture in many of our homes and it only seems appropriate to have our babes start off that way as well!
We are loving the STUVA crib as it transforms from a cot to a day bed which makes for an easy transition for your toddler. The cot base has been designed to be well ventilated which creates the perfect sleeping climate for your little one. The winner for us is definitely the pull out drawers underneath which also makes those late night spit up changes a lot more convenient.
Available at all IKEA‘s for $1,990.
If you’re looking for a sleek and stylish cot that will stay with you forever? Look no further than the classic Stokke Sleepi from Mothercare. Their furniture is known to grow beyond baby to the whole family. From their high chairs to their cots, we love that these wellmade pieces are here to stay.
The Stokke Sleepi starts off as a mini cot for newborns which replaces the use for a bassinet. Simply add panels and lower the mattress frame as baby grows (four different levels!). And when your little is ready for a junior bed, remove one of the sides for easy in-and-out access. Finally, when your kiddo no longer fits in the bed, the sleeper converts into two chairs… talk about innovation!
Available in a few colours at Mothercare.
From baby to junior bed… time does fly in the blink of an eye when it comes to watching our little ones grow! Instead of having to buy a big girl/big boy bed, toddlers who’ve grown accustomed to their cot can grow with it.
We love the Danish brand, Leander from Tiny Footprints for their high quality Beechwood made furniture and love the chic design. Although this cot is definitely more of an investment piece! However, many will agree that the investment is worth it as the crib turns into five different beds as your baby grows. At Leander they believe that you only need to invest in a bed once and we can definitely see why!
Available at Tiny Footprints for $13,600.
On the 13th floor of Times Square lies a carefully selected group of children’s stores that cater to a wide variety of customers. One store, DolphinBB happens to carry some pretty awesome baby furniture and other items from Europe, Japan and the United States.
The Alondra Maths Cot in the display window definitely caught our eye! They’re built for Hong Kong homes (limited spaces!) as the cot measures 60x120cm. With the option of adding additional changing units and storage and it comes in several different colours, we love that we can pick and choose what works best for our nurseries. Better yet, DolphinBB also offers delivery. Hooray!
Available at DolphinBB at $7,830 – $9,378 depending on your configurations.
