Helicopter rides, hiking, cooking classes and more!

When you’ve been married (or just together) for a while, making the time for your partner is not only essential to keeping the love alive, it’s a good excuse to have some (much-needed!) time away for the kids. But when you’ve done the “dinner and a movie” night a million times, it makes finding the time for you and your mate less enticing. That’s why we’re here! We’ve come up with some fun “off the beaten path” dates sure to be an enjoyable time out for both of you. Whether you’re thrill-seekers, creative types or just want to get out of your flat, we hope these ideas will give you some inspo for the next kid-free day or night.

Helicopter Fly and Dine

Fly And Dine

Okay, this isn’t a cheap thrill, but it’s thrilling nonetheless! Take an incredible 15-minute helicopter ride over Victoria Harbour followed by lunch (or dinner) at the Peninsula Hotel. But if you think you need a bit more pampering, check out the Fly And Relax offer, as it features the same helicopter ride plus a 60-minute aromatherapy massage, a 60-minute personalised facial, a light and healthy lunch or afternoon tea at the pool, and full use of the Relaxation Room and Therapy Suite. Now that’s what we call a great date!
Cost: Fly And Dine, From $10,546 for two people; Fly And Relax, $15,610 for two people.
Book here.

Macau Tower Walk Experience

Get away for the day in Macau, and instead of going gambling (yawn!), put some adventure in your day and do the Tower Walk Experience! This isn’t for the faint at heart, as you’ll be walking 233 metres high (that’s 764 feet!) above the crowds, and there is no handrail to keep you from feeling like you’re going to fall off! Okay, so you’ll be strapped in (we aren’t crazy, you know), but you’ll definitely feel the thrill!
Cost: $788 per person (includes certificate, membership card, USB, T-shirt and tower ticket).
Book here.

Food And Drink Walking Tours

One of our favourite foodies, Virginia Chan, leads walking tours around Hong Kong. Her “Humid With A Chance Of Fishballs” guided walks will have you tasting amazing local street food and checking out the streets of Hong Kong. She even has selected dim sum lunch tours, or, if you’re just wanting a cheeky drink with your soulmate, she offers local craft brewery tours, too.
Cost: Tours vary. Check here for price listing.
Book here.

Zip lining

Private Zip Line And Abseiling

If you know other adventurous couples who want to get away for a bit without the kids, this one’s a great activity. Take a private zip line tour (for up to six people). You’ll be ferried to Tung Lung Chau where you’ll hike 20-minutes to the zip line (it’s overlooking a cliff!).
