Creative Arts, Music, & Drama

Maggie & Rose
As if our little tots need any extra help getting into the festive spirit, Sassy Mama favourite Maggie & Rose is running its annual Christmas camps, which are sure to create classic childhood memories…This years’ activities include seasonal arts and crafts, cooking and Make & Make Believe creative play and music. On top of that, your lil’ Christmas elves will build a snowman (“Do yooou wanna build a snowman? No? Frozen anyone?), make gingerbread men, and make their own tree decorations, and much more. At Maggie & Rose kids learn through play, and attendees this year will also experience a very cultured Christmas, as they get artsy and inspired by the likes of Banksy and Rauschenberg. The camps are open to members and non-members, and run for 3 hours a day in Repulse Bay and at its brand new Causeway Bay club. Be sure to check out maggieandrose.com.hk to see the full timetable of events.

Winter is coming and Faust International Youth Theatre is ready for it. Faust offers winter camps for children from 4 years old to 13-year-old tweens. If you’ve got a creative one on your hands then you have the option to join either the Winter Theatre or Winter Creative Writing Camps. The theatre camp will have kids practising their acting chops through winter-themed stories, letting their imaginations run wild. At the end of the week, your festive thespians will have the chance to share what they’ve learnt in an open sharing session where families are invited to watch. If your kid prefers to put pen to paper rather than hitting the stage, than they can join one of the small group writing classes which aim to unlock your child’s creative potential. The young writers will learn new storytelling techniques and build a portfolio of their work to share with captive readers at the end of the week.

There’s a small student to teacher ratios here, too, typically between 4:1 to 8:1. It isn’t all just about the hardware though, Cobo also focuses on the software (of our kids that is!), and builds critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity over these interactive, 3-5 day camps.
