Make a splash!
With all the extracurricular activities available in our overflowing city, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. Though the “plenty of fish in the sea” mentality has served us well in the past, when it comes to raising kiddos, we want to make sure we’re using our time wisely – especially since our little ones seem to be growing by the minute!
If you’re hoping to enrol them for classes that are active, engaging, useful and enjoyable – it’s clear that swimming is a solid option. As a hobby and a useful lifeskill, it’s definitely something you’ll be thanked for when your teen is winning the races at their school swimming gala (or hanging out on family junks in the summer). Hey, there’s no harm in planning ahead!
Decided to get your bub started with swimming lessons nice and early? You’ll be glad you did! Splash Swimming offers an Aqua Babies swim programme that promises to take tiny tots through the initial stages of making a splash. Babies from as little as 4 months old are welcome to take part, and the programme even specialises in mama-and-baby groups. Splash Swimming provides top quality education and hands-on learning, with a focus on water safety, correct techniques, touch-communication and family bonding. By keeping family familiarity as a consistent, little ones are far more likely to enjoy their first swimming experience. Bonus: you know shower time will be a breeze once they learn to love the water!
For toddlers, check out the Learn To Swim programme for classes specifically for 3 year olds and up. The experienced instructors are all about making sure that every student feels safe and confident! Based in Parkview (in a warm indoor pool) all year, and Clearwater Bay Country Club in the summer, you can be sure that you and your budding Olympic swimmer will be well taken care of.
Take your pick between 45-minute morning classes or afternoon sessions on weekdays, or head over on a Saturday or Sunday for the 30-minute weekend express session. With the weather warming up, it’s the perfect time to get prepped!
