A day out at the cinema is always a reliable way to beat the summer heat. This year there are five fabulous family films screening at Hong Kong City Hall and Hong Kong Film Archive as part of the “Summer Family Screen”. With affordable tickets and movies that appeal to all ages, it’s an easy choice to plan a cinematic experience for your kids.
1. Even Mice Belong In Heaven — Czech Republic, France, Poland, Slovakia
The story of an unlikely friendship between a feisty mouse and a shy young fox who find themselves in animal heaven, working together in this strange new world full of wondrous adventures and fantastic surprises.

2. The Fantastic Journey Of Margot And Marguerite — France
What happens when two worlds collide? Twelve-year-olds Margot and Marguerite find out together via a mysterious magic chest that transports them between each other’s lives in World War II-era 1942 and the modern-day life in 2020. A wild adventure follows where the girls explore their history, learn about their families and find their way in the present world.

3. Rabbit Academy: Mission Eggpossible — Germany, Austria

4. Laura’s Star — Germany
Laura carefully treats a tiny star falling from the sky and a magical friendship between them blossoms.

5. Felix And The Treasure Of Morgäa — Canada
This fabulous film opened the Montréal International Children’s Film Festival in 2021 and we can’t wait to check it out in Hong Kong this summer. It tells the tale of 12-year-old Felix, who tragically lost his father at sea. Convinced that his Dad must be out there somewhere, he sets off, accompanied by Tom, the retired sailor, Sqwark, the thieving one-legged parrot and Rover, the cat that acts like a dog.
