Beach Escape: Middle Bay Beach

When I first moved to Hong Kong a few years ago, I’ll admit my on-island travel did not extend very far beyond Central.  Now that I’ve moved “South Side”, I’ve discovered all the beautiful beaches I’d been missing.  One of my favorites is Middle Bay Beach, a tiny inlet between Repulse Bay Beach and South Bay Beach. I hesitate to even write about it, as part of its charm is that it is never crowded. The beach area is quite small, which is actually a bonus, as you can bring your copy of Vogue, lie back, and let the kids run around without having to worry that they will be out of your sight.

The Bauhinia Beach Club is a restaurant located right next to the beach, and is a great little dining spot. There is comfortable, chic seating on beach chairs under crisp, white umbrellas. You can sit and look out over the water across to Repulse Bay, while eating a meal with the whole family. The Bauhinia serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, along with beer, wine and mixed drinks – perfect for when the sun is setting after a long, lazy day at the beach. A lovely mini staycation!
