You did it, mama…you made it through Christmas and New Year! But just when you thought you were getting into the swing of 2020, CNY comes along and the celebrations start all over again. So it’s a good thing there are some new cocktail menus and happy hour deals to get us through.

The Leah

Need a break from all that shopping in Causeway Bay? Stop by The Leah and try out one of its Chinese New Year Cocktails (available until Thursday, 13 February). There’s the Lucky Mandarin ($88) resembling wealth, luck and longevity and The Jade ($88) symbolising the virtues of sincerity, loyalty, justice, wisdom and purity. We’ll drink to that!

We’ve always been big fans of this quirky Chinese kitchen and, with a brand new cocktail list, now we’ve got one more reason to head back for another visit. We can’t wait to try the 800 Miles ($118) – a concoction of gin, lychee, lime, ginger ale and bitters, or the Shu-Jia ($118) which mixes cachaça with purple potato Yakult, spiced apple and lime.

Head on over to Hutong’s Moon Gate Bar for great views over the city and to try its newest cocktail creation — the Rising Dragon. Another of our favourite Chinese restaurants has revamped its cocktail list for the CNY holidays. Available for a limited time only, be sure to try out The Entrepreneur ($80) a mix of ratafia, recycled tonic and cinnamon or The Companion ($100) with Suze, gin, raspberry, orange flower water and egg white. Pair it up with the special Chinese New Year menu and you and your mamas will be set for a great night out!
