Planning Your Little One’s Birthday? Throw a Camp Out Party!

Parties & PlayPost Category - Parties & PlayParties & Play - Post Category - PartiesParties

Support your child’s adventurous spirit and celebrate their birthday by bringing the wilderness to them. Let Sweet Soirées show you how a “Camp Out” party is done!

It’s a known fact that children absolutely love their birthdays! It’s a time for celebrating with family and friends, playing games and eating an unnecessary amount of cake. Sweet Soirées have been organising boutique parties in Hong Kong for over 3 years, and we know it takes a lot of planning to make sure parties go off without a hitch. Children’s parties, in particular, have so many different aspects that all need to come together to make a great party. There’s the venue, decorations, games, entertainment, music, food, drinks, party ware, cake and goodie bags, not to mention any extras such as a photographer, face painter, cotton candy machine and the list goes on! Having recently finished planning a series of all encompassing party packages, we are happy to guide you through the usual party planning woes by writing about our favourite party themes and what they should include to make sure your little ones have the perfect party!

This month, we’re featuring one of our most popular winter themes –the Camp Out! We’ll share with you some of our ideas and tips to make sure your Camp Out party is full of adventure and excitement. Here are the key points to include:

Venue:

First pick where you’re going to have your party. You could have it at home or, if you’re not the biggest fan of cleaning up half-eaten cupcakes and popped party balloons, you could rent a venue. Make sure your venue has enough space for all your guests and activities, and decide on area you can turn into a cosy movie zone for your little party guests to relax and unwind after all the fun and games!

Decorations:

Decide on what camp out decorations you’re going to get to turn your venue into an exciting outdoor adventure. We opted for brightly coloured balloons and honeycomb lanterns, teepees, soft grass rugs and a cute pretend log fire. We know you probably don’t have a teepee lying around so get creative! Check out DIY teepees on Pinterest or simply hang bedsheets across furniture to create a fun play tent. Make your teepee extra cosy by adding fun cushions and blankets.

Activity & Games:

Plan some activities and games to get the kids into the party spirit. Hold a sing-along around the campfire, set up an arts and craft zone and play a few rounds of duck duck goose to tire everyone out before relaxing with a movie and some sweet treats.

Catering:

Now to prepare for the campout feast. We like to include party favourites such as mini burgers, mini pizzas and sausage rolls and mix them in with some themed treats like animal cookies and popcorn. S’mores are a campout staple and are always a hit! Grab some marshmallows, chocolate, biscuits and gooey extras like fudge. You can create your own mini s’more kit for delicious party favours or to add to goodie bags. Simply stack biscuits, chocolate and marshmallows on top of each other and wrap in a cute little bag for guests to melt at home.

Cake:

This is your time to be really imaginative. A classic chocolate cake works perfectly as a campfire cake! Stack chocolate bars in a circle to act as firewood and add red, yellow and orange sweets to act as flames. If you want to go further you can add green icing as grass and blue icing as a lake. If you’re not a natural baker don’t panic, hire a professional cake maker to prevent any disasters in the kitchen!
