Stretch Marks: Top Products for Beating the Stripes

Family LifePost Category - Family LifeFamily LifeStyle & BeautyPost Category - Style & BeautyStyle & Beauty

stretch-marks no thanks.Stretch marks. I cringe just typing the words. Jessica Alba may love hers, but me?  No way. When I was expecting little J I was slathering myself religiously every morning and night to do my best to fend them off.

There are, of course, zillions of lotions and potions out there – and yes, your genes do seem to have something to do with it all.   Nothing wrong with a little risk management, though. An informal and non-scientific poll of some of my nearest and dearest reveals two hands-down favorites in the fight against this cruel phenomenon: Bio Oil and Palmer’s. And both are safe for use during pregnancy.

But what good is knowing what you need if don’t know where to find it, right? Not to worry – we’ve got you (and your thighs) covered.

BIO OIL

Stretch mark cures

Bio Oil is a blend of essential oils (rosemary, lavender, calendula, and chamomile) infused with vitamins (A to improve elasticity and E to lock in moisture) that my sources claim is a miracle from heaven when it comes to reducing the appearance of stretch marks.  The magic ingredient is their patented PurCellin Oil that helps it absorb easily into the skin.

I kept hearing, though, that it was impossible to find here –  ”I bring it back with me from home” was said over and over by more than a few of the yummy mummies when discussing their obsession.  Well, folks.  I found it. Cue the chorus of angels.

PALMER’S COCOA BUTTER

Palmer’s is what got me through my pregnancy – and it’s actually still a part of my post-shower ritual almost a year after little J’s arrival.  I love that it’s super light and non-greasy – and its very mild cocoa-butter scent is subtle rather than overpowering or too ‘beachy’.  It’s loaded with yummy things to keep your skin super moisturized: Vitamin E, collagen and elastin – plus cocoa and shea butter, of course.
