Put your feet up and spend a weekend staycation at the luxurious Plateau Spa at the Grand Hyatt!

Let me set the stage… ever since coming back from the holidays, it’s been a revolving door of sick kids in my house and between my husband and I, we haven’t had a solid night’s rest in a while. So when the opportunity to check out a staycation at the Grand Hyatt’s Plateau Spa Rooms in the heart of Wanchai, we jumped at the chance.

Having been to the Grand Hyatt before, we had never realised that the entire eleventh floor is dedicated to their ten residential spa rooms that are designed differently than the other rooms in the hotel!

We were excited to experience first hand how the Plateau Spa is reinventing itself with new treatments and staycation packages that are perfect for a little getaway sans traveling out of the country. As a self-contained resort within the hotel, they pride themselves in being the ultimate private escape for anyone needing respite from their busy life to tired travellers. What’s more, guests staying at the Plateau Spa rooms also have access to the 24-hour fitness studio, heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. With their alfresco dining poolside at The Grill and The Poolhouse for outdoor events, you really don’t have to leave the 11th floor throughout your stay.

Make sure you check out my top three reasons you should book a stay at the Plateau Spa below the video (just in time for Valentine’s Day too!).

1. Attention to Detail

We were booked to stay at the one and only Plateau Spa Suite and were pumped to check out what all the hubbub was all about when it came to the unique dedicated spa residential rooms on the 11th floor. As guests of the suite, we checked in on the 30th floor at the Grand Club and immediately felt like we were on vacation already (even though we were really only 15 minutes away from home!).

The staff happened to know that my birthday was coming up so they made it their mission to make sure I felt special and celebrated. As we walked into the room, we were greeted with balloons, wine, a “Happy Birthday” sign hung from the window and a surprise birthday cake later in the evening.

Besides the initial pleasant surprise of the birthday touches, I could barely contain my excitement as the spacious room just oozed zen and relaxation. From the open living room to the beautiful city and harbour view terrace to the plush bed and my fav, our own personal whirlpool and steam room in the bathroom.

Guests of the Plateau Spa rooms have access to the gym, pool and yoga classes, and just in case you forgot to bring your gym gear, we found two sets of fresh gym outfits in the walk-in closet (they really do think of everything!).

2. A Memorable Spa Journey

Without a moment to waste, we immediately changed into the fluffy bathrobes and slippers, nibbled on some complimentary snacks and took in the views of the city as we waited for our spa therapists to pick us up from our room.

When it was time for our treatment, we were lead literally down the hall to the treatment room for a 90 minute Signature Plateau Spa treatment. It might be a small detail to some, but I appreciated not having to get into a lift and going to another floor/area in my bathrobe for the treatment!

The therapists started off with a warm foot soak and lavender and sea salt scrub as we chose which oils we wanted to use. We both opted for a reviving ginger root and peppermint oil to reenergise our sore muscles. If you sit at desk for work or are picking up small kiddos all the time (or both!), this treatment will definitely help work out all the kinks and knots in your back! The hubs was so relaxed, I definitely heard him snoring throughout the 90 minutes!

When the treatment ended, we were given fresh fruit, green tea for detoxification and a glass of bubbly because, why not? The best bit (second to the massage!)? Walking back to our room, champagne in hand and was greeted by the start of a stunning pink and purple sunset on our terrace.

3. A Feast for the Eyes and Stomach

For guests staying at either the Plateau Spa Suite or the Plateau Deluxe Room, there is access to the Grand Club Lounge on the 30th floor. The lounge is open from 7am to 12 midnight every day serving up tea, coffee wine, champagne along with snacks and fresh fruit throughout the day. For someone who doesn’t always get to eat (let along snack!) in peace without having to tell one kiddo to sit down and another to take another bite, the vino and snacks were music to my ears stomach.

When you arrive on the 30th floor, there is a grand staircase that leads you up to the club lounge which boasts of unparalleled views of the harbour and Kowloon. The sun was just setting and we were able to catch the epic view while sipping on bubbly and sampling the cocktail hour snacks (cocktail hour runs from 5:30 – 7:30pm). Your glass will never be empty as the staff are incredibly attentive always making sure you’re topped up and well taken care of.

Complimentary breakfast is also served here from 7 – 10:30am and we made sure to take advantage of that too! From a full breakfast buffet to daily specials (Western and Asian options!) on order, there is something for every one.

At the end of our stay, we were already talking about when we should return for another stay. It was wonderful to get away for a quick overnight stay to get a proper night’s rest, recharge and relax all while not having to leave the country. A staycation at the Plateau Spa is definitely good for a mama’s soul!
