Pacific Place Theatre Presents: The Grand “Christmas Spectacular”

Festive performances, unmissable pop-ups, free Christmas workshops, and Santa himself!

We had the chance to check out Pacific Place’s “Christmas Spectacular” set for ourselves this year, so we can fully vouch that it has the Sassy Mama seal of approval. The festive season means family time, so it’s no surprise we’re on the lookout for the next place to spend a stress-free Sunday. With parking, stroller accessibility, family friendly workshops, and plenty of kiddo-approved restaurants (as refuelling pit stops), this famed shopping mall is ticking off the must-haves on every parent’s wish list.

When strolling through the mall, take a break from the present hunt to enjoy performances from renowned local companies. The Hong Kong Ballet, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Opera Hong Kong, the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Bach Choir, and many more, will be gracing the stage. There’ll also be sets from children’s choirs to get us in the festive spirit.

If your little ones aren’t busy singing along, their mouths are sure to be preoccupied, munching away on popcorn! That’s right, you can enjoy free popcorn throughout the shows. Make sure to venture up one floor to visit the Theatre’s Candy Bar by Sweet World. Flavours include seasonal tastes like New York Christmas (featuring green apple and cinnamon spice), classics like caramel and chocolate, exclusive flavours (only available at Pacific Place like Toasted Coconut, Cinnamon Swirl and Tropical), and even savoury options using only natural ingredients. Flavours in the “healthy” selection include Thai Sweet Chili & Lime, Prawn Cocktail and Bacon Carbonara. It’s only fair to warn you that the candyfloss station hosts nine splendid flavours, so sugar-craving kids may need to be fed beforehand!

The spectacular sequence of events doesn’t stop there. Don’t miss out on complimentary Christmas workshops. Keen to make your own home décor as a gift? Choose from the scents of pine, gingerbread or chocolate at the wooden Christmas-scented Candle Workshop. And don’t forget to check out the Christmas Neon Sign Workshop, offering a contemporary take on traditional displays. Our Sassy Mama Editor loved getting to hand-stitch a neon sign and customise it with a personal Christmas message and image. If your sweet tooth hasn’t been satisfied, the luxury chocolatiers, La Maison Du Chocolat invite you to join a truly divine tasting journey, whilst decorating and engraving your chocolate to take home. This is a fab one to get the kids involved in too!

Last, but definitely not least, the season wouldn’t be complete without Father Christmas. Until Monday, 25 December, the man in red will be setting up camp in his welcoming grotto, waiting to meet and greet bright-eyed tiny tots. Tickets are already available, so book your slot before it fills up!
