Here at Sassy Mama we love to hear about inspiring ladies doing remarkable things for a great cause; be it setting up amazing voluntary organisations, hiking awe-inspiring mountains or, like this gang of gung-ho girls from north of the border, running the Great Wall of China for a local Hong Kong charity. Yep, we said running…
This year’s Great Wall Marathon takes place on 18 May 2013, and – inspired by fellow mama Kris Stewart’s battle with stage 4 breast cancer – an all-female team from Shanghai have pledged to complete one of the world’s most gruelling races, raising funds for Hong Kong cancer charity, Maggie’s Centre.
You can read more about the team’s mission here, and you can also check out Kris’ heart-warming, brutally honest and often hilarious account of her cancer treatment here.
The Great Wall ShMa Runners are asking anyone who is interested in donating in their name to do so directly via the Maggie’s Centre website here. Donations of $100 and over are tax-deductible in Hong Kong, and will help the centre to continue to provide one-on-one support to those affected by cancer.
Good luck, mamas!
