The New Ritz Carlton Macau and JW Marriott Beckons!

TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - Short HaulShort Haul

Looking for a luxurious, Macau experience? Stay at the New Ritz Carlton or JW Marriott!

There are many hotel chains that assure consistency in bed quality, efficient service and seamless Wi-Fi and the other nouveau standards of a 5 star hotel operation featuring flat screen televisions and bedside docking stations. The rising expectations of global travellers have redefined certain luxuries as a basic.

None of us have any time to waste, but we should all make time to spend on things that are worthy- including reading this review. So, I will give you the first conclusion: The Ritz Carlton Hotels epitomizes a state-of-mind, which they have impeccably translated in their people and properties across the world. Luxury is their primary DNA.

The new Ritz Carlton Macau, which opened in May 2015 proved to be another remarkable revelation. It is the luxury brand’s 89th property and the first all-suite hotel featuring 250 suites with an average size of 98 square metres.

Highlights

The Ritz-Carlton, Macau (2) - Lobby

The Ideal Architecture

The hotel is located within the integrated resort of Galaxy Macau and adjacent to the recently opened JW Marriott Hotel which is the brand’s largest in Asia with 1,015 rooms. The interesting design element of these two hotel properties is that they are both located discreetly away from the casinos which is ideal for another dimension of your Macau adventure. It is within the orbit of the entertainment, shopping, gastronomic and gaming pleasures of the Galaxy but with a thoughtful sense of architecture. Both hotels are celebrating their first Christmas this year after opening in May 2015.

Ladies & Gentlemen

The Ritz Carlton Macau has only been opened for 6 months and it has already been making waves with connoisseurs of the luxe life. Being treated as ladies and gentlemen is the hallmark of the chain that reverberates between guests and staff alike. My first highlight of true luxury is their people. Intuitive and well versed in the intricacies of their areas of specialty: Maria who is the affable Manager for the Lounge and Bar explained every detail of their exquisite afternoon tea set and even shared insider information on their chic bar featuring nightly Aperitivo specials which is fast becoming Macau’s new hip hang-out for the stylish local set.

The Ritz-Carlton, Macau (3) - The Ritz-Carlton Cafe 1

The French Brasserie: Chic in Every Way

Evoking timeless French elegance where you could just visualize Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld sketching and dining. The Ritz Carlton Café has both the form and substance of a French Brasserie where you would want to wear some heels, carry your baby and eat your cake too! But in this case, the most incredible Crème Brulee outside Paris! The Ritz Carlton Café has already caught another discerning French eye after being opened for only 6 months; being recommended in the Michelin Guide for 2016. As a rule, always keep an eye for dishes named after the restaurant’s Chef especially after he shares the same name as my firstborn. Chef’s Raphael’s Tartare de Boeuf is simply sublime and one of the best steak tartare dishes I have ever tried. No wonder this is the signature classic that bears his name.

The Ultimate Afternoon Tea

The anatomy of not only a visually compelling afternoon tea set but a curated selection of gourmet delicacies caused a quickening of the pulse. The bespoke afternoon tea set features a superb sweet and savoury blend from Brie with Truffles, Pata Negra and Foire Gras to Smoked Salmon. The sweet range includes the Strawberry Mousse Cake with dark chocolate and edible gold, Pistachio Cake with Raspberries and Mango Cheesecake. The highlight besides the classic scone variety is the luscious caramel scone and the sculptural three-tiered tray.

The Ritz Carlton Macau has launched three room packages, and one cool family friendly package is the Ritz Kids Night Safari Program designed by world-renowned oceanographer Jean-Michel Cousteau. Space being the ultimate luxury for Hong Kong, the all-suite hotel has created a package for your entire brood!

JW Marriott Hotel Macau (3) - Retreat Pool Suite

JW Marriot Hotel Macau

Adjacent to the Ritz Carlton is the 5-star JW Marriott Hotel, which is the brand’s largest in Asia featuring 1,015 rooms and suites designed with opulent minimalism. Sleek and with an urban sophistication, the hotel has rooms with the most spectacular views of the stunning Galaxy complex with its lush landscaping, pools and iconic architecture.

Here’s my culinary scoop: The Urban Kitchen showcases an epic all-day buffet has the BEST Peking Duck where the long queue is totally justified! A Chef from Beijing takes culinary center stage and watch how he slices the succulent Peking Duck and arranges the portions individually for every guest. The soft serve ice cream machines at the dessert station will make your kids think you are a superhero in disguise after this Macau adventure.
