YWCA Hong Kong’s Autumn Schedule

LearnPost Category - LearnLearnParties & PlayPost Category - Parties & PlayParties & Play

The YWCA’s latest program is out and if you haven’t picked up your copy of the Children’s Autumn Programme booklet, you’re in luck –  here you go.

For over 60 years the English Speaking Members Department (ESMD) of the HK-YWCA has been offering up a wide range of vibrant, unique resources for expats and English-speakers living in Hong Kong.  They’ve got day and evening courses, talks and events for virtually everyone – from cooking classes for helpers, to language courses, book clubs for the kiddos….it’s really amazing.

This Fall they’ve got some really great classes for parents and a super kids program lined up.  And did you know that you can even rent baby gear if you have visitors headed here with children??  (note to self…)

There’s so much offered at the “Y” it’s hard to know where to start. But here are a few courses that caught our eye:

For pregnant moms there’s standard stuff like prenatal yoga.  But what we think is particularly noteworthy is the Mums 2B in Hong Kong class for expectant moms who are new to the city. Designed to be informative and fun, they aim to help you find Dr. Right, give you the scoop on baby class options and all that – plus it’s a great way to make new friends.  Moms with little munchkins already commando crawling around should check out Baby Signs and infant massage.

Turning to the children’s courses, the Fall season has an extensive range of classes that are small, structured and fun – and provide a great opportunity to meet playgroup buddies for your little ones. There is a ton of new classes on the schedule for the season ahead.  J is a tad young, but the course book was jam packed with things I can’t wait for her to enjoy someday:  a baking class for kids 5-6 years old where cookies and cupcakes are part of the curriculum, yoga classes for HK’s littlest yogis, plus there are math classes, book clubs, Mandarin courses for kids of all ages….it’s quite the selection.

Signing up for a course or two is super easy. If you are a current member you can enroll online, but if you’re not, simply download the course application form and mail it in. Or just pop over and apply in person at their MacDonnell Road location.  While you don’t have to be a member to enroll in their courses there are a number of benefits – including discounted course fees.  Interested in being a member – click here.
