If you can’t stand the thought of giving or receiving another plastic toy that makes noises and lights up, then you should definitely check out The Little Door. We feel like a kid in a candy store every time we go to Dotty Akachan’s website. The selection of gifts and decorations are as much a gift to mamas as they are to children. From fun stocking stuffers like temporary non-toxic tattoos and pom pom socks to practical but stylish décor (like gold dinosaur wall stickers!) and genius toy storage bags, they are a great spot for toddler gifts. And not that we need an excuse to stock up, but they offer free shipping for orders over $500.

We might speak for parents everywhere when we say our patience and tolerance for loud, annoying, robotic sounding tunes and toys is slim to none – even on a good day! That’s why we love Luli’s My First Music Player. Designed by a mom, the screen-free player integrates a high-quality speaker and is designed for pre-readers. The player has low and medium volume levels that parents control and complimentary software that allows parents to upload music from their computer. That means you can hold a normal adult conversation while the kids listen to their music without causing a migraine!

If you have a budding singer on your hands, you’ll find Cali’s Books’ “press and sing along” collection the perfect gift. From the special Christmas edition to the Bedtime with Mozart and Other Greats to Yoga With Friends, each book has 6 songs/lyrics that help kids (and parents!) sing along. The yoga book might be our favourite – we love how it includes descriptive instructions and illustrations to suggest ways to include tots in yoga exercises while linking them to music that they are already familiar with. A creative solution we’re all for!
