7-Eleven Hacks for Time-Sensitive Mamas

We’re all about making our lives as convenient as possible. Because we know how precious your time is, we’re always on the lookout for time-saving solutions to help you out, mamas. Luckily, Hong Kong values convenience, and there is nothing more accommodating than our local 7-Eleven. When hunger strikes, satisfying your late night sweet tooth is as easy as strolling to the nearest shop (which we’re guessing is just up the block). But we discovered this little corner store offers so much more than just chips and drinks.

Did you know that while perusing the snack shelves of the city’s premier convenience store you can also tick a few items off your to-do list, such as pay your bills, return online shopping from ASOS and buy stamps? Here are a few of the ways that 7-Eleven is becoming a veritable one-stop shop for your daily needs!

ASOS

Pick up and return packages

If some retail therapy is in order (when is it ever not in order?!), it’s now easier than ever to pick up — and, if needed, to return — your orders. Several retailers and mailing services deliver to select 7-Eleven stores, including FedEx, DHL, 4PX, Zalora, Taobao, Books.com.tw, SF express and Wifi egg.

For returns, packages bound for Zalora, Wifi Egg and ASOS can be dropped off at selected 7-Elevens. Best of all, it’s free. Make sure to check with your local 7-Eleven first to see if this service is available.

Pay your bills

If snail mail is too old school for you, you can pay your bills at any 7-Eleven location. Just bring in your invoice and pay your taxes, government bills, mobile phone bills or public housing rent. Keep in mind that only cash payments are accepted.

Cashback

Speaking of cash — if you’re short on change, don’t fret. Cashback options are available at all 7-Eleven stores. The service is valid with any Electronic Payment Services (EPS) card with a purchase of any item. Just specify how much money you want and voila! You’ve got a pocketful of money.

Buy tickets

Here’s a little line-cutting secret: You can purchase bus tickets and entry passes to some of Hong Kong’s most popular destinations at — you guessed it — 7-Eleven. Perfect for out-of-town visitors and those weekend family field trips, you can buy tickets for Ngong Ping 360, the sky100 Observation Deck, Noah’s Ark and Madame Tussauds, as well as bus tickets through the Eternal East Cross-Border Coach and Chinalink. This service takes all the stress out of itinerary planning when friends and family come to visit.

buy stamps

Buy stamps

The days of wasting your lunchtime queuing at the post office are long gone. You can now buy stamps at any 7-Eleven counter! The bad news is, we can no longer use the queue excuse for sending a birthday card a few days late…

SIM cards

Another useful service is the ability to get SIM cards at 7-Eleven shops. A wide range of prepaid SIM cards are on offer, with something to suit just about everyone’s needs, whether it be a local data and voice SIM or an outbound data roaming SIM. There’s no binding contract, and pre-registration is not needed. We call that a win-win!

Travel insurance

7-Eleven stores make gift buying easy with its selection of nifty prepaid and prepayment cards. But did you know you can also buy an FWD Travel Insurance card? If you’re looking to get away with the family, and need travel insurance, stop by your local 7-Eleven to get the job done. Available in the amounts of $120, $160 and $200, the insurance is easily activated by typing in a promotion code on FWD’s website.
